Vermiculite board is extremely heat resistant and has many applications. It can be used to build a reusable mold box for casting, as kiln shelving(just make certain that you support the board well wih short kiln posts and use fiber paper on top of the board to prevent sticking). You can also use this board for drop rings and other similar molds(again, cover with fiber paper before slumping) . The combination of rigidty and resistance to heat(up to 2012F/1100C) also makes vermiculite board an excellent back up insulation for kilns. Keep in mind that this board is more rigid than most fiber boards or other refractory materials.
